Skanska has been chosen by Citycon to construct four residential towers as part of the Lippulaiva urban development project!
As part of the Lippulaiva urban development
project, Citycon has signed an agreement with construction company Skanska to
build four residential towers. This is in line with Citycon's urban hub
development strategy. Citycon is increasingly focusing on mixed-use projects
that include residences, offices, retail, and a variety of service offerings
all linked to transportation. real estate qatar
In the north-western extremity of
Lippulaiva, above the bus terminal, four residential towers of 4-14 floors and
275 apartments will be developed. The residential towers will be completed
between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, with construction starting
in the spring of 2021. This is a significant step forward in Citycon's efforts
to expand its residential business. On the site, eight residential towers will
be constructed, with a total of 550 new apartments. On December 2, a
preliminary agreement was made with the construction company Hausia for the
sale of residential building rights for two residential towers.
Skanska is also the main contractor for the
shopping center component of the Lippulaiva urban development project. In
October of this year, a contract agreement for the shopping center was signed.
With VAT, the total price of the currently signed contract for residentials is
around EUR 50 million.
"We chose Skanska as our partner based
on the received tenders and after the development stage," says Risto
Seppo, Citycon's Property Development Director. "We are convinced that by
using the same construction company for both the shopping center and the
residentials, we will significantly reduce the risks during construction and
ensure the same high quality," says Seppo.
"I'm thrilled that our collaboration
with Citycon has expanded to include residential buildings. We use Skanska's
competence extensively in this diverse business, from design and procurement
through construction "Skanska's District Manager, Jorma Seppä, agrees.
From shopping malls to mixed-use urban
centers, there's something for everyone.
Lippulaiva is currently undergoing a
significant redevelopment project, with the previously demolished commercial
centre being rebuilt with a bustling urban hub that comprises a new and modern
shopping center, residential towers, and a metro station. The new Lippulaiva
will include a total of 30,000 square meters of residential space, as well as
44,000 square meters of commercial area that will house around 100 different
units, such as grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, services, and office spaces.
"Lippulaiva is a great example of
Citycon's strategy, and we're getting close to putting it into action. Our
concept of developing mixed-use urban centres in which residentials, offices,
and a variety of service offerings are created in close proximity to the
shopping centre is aided by the construction of residential towers. We're
putting an even greater emphasis on constructing mixed-use developments and
densifying the urban environment around our shopping malls "Citycon's
Chief Development Officer, Erik Lennhammar, says
